“I love bass guitar, because it has so little to do, yet it's so important.”Brian EnoAward winner VJ / sound artist Julyo is a composer, video artist and multi-instrumentalist. Fluent in conventional video scoring techniques and a full range of musical styles, Julyo specializes in combining ethnic and modern instruments to create a blend of the exotic and contemporary he named 'ethnofunk' music. Julyo's work is focused on education, Consciousness research, zero point energy research and the implications of exo politics in future social scenarios.Julyo has scored nationally broadcasted TV and radio commercials, including Coca Cola's "Cappy" commercial and D&G fashion showcases, and contributed to feature films such as Laurence Gartel's "Fetish America" and Lars Gerhard's "Erika Stone" documentary. His background includes studies at Berklee College of Music with jazz guru Mick Goodrick, saxophonist Paul Elman and Charlie Banacos, along with studies in gamelan music and classical guitar with musician Katsumi Nagaoka.Julyo's recording credits include one International Award for Best Score at the New York Independent film festival 2006 for the movie 'Photosonic' and an Honorable Mention from the historical acoustic guitar brand C.f. Martin in PA, USA for the solo record 'Conversations', and TV music performances with Take That (RTE One, Ireland), 4Ever (Time Warner Cable, US) and many more. Julyo's field recordings of 'ethnofunk' and 'instrumental pop' music can be heard on the Austria's national radio station O3, Japanese TV channel T&M, Italian national television RAI along with many other broadcasted TV and radio channels including the Muzak worldwide music database.Julyo's music is currently used by Muzak, 1000Tracks Inc. (HBO, Bravo, etc.), GD Seventy Eight Music Inc. and Elec Trip Records.
